Blog don't Lie has always been fascinated by brands that have a story to tell. Our research path and final proposal in the store cannot be exempt from this need.
We were guests of the Camplin company; yes ok by now you have understood: you will find it in the store in the next Fall Winter.
The ancient aura that Camplin brings with him emphasizes the charm of the coat: everything told us, at the beginning of the works, that the communicative potential of the brand had to be somehow enhanced through something engaging that testified at the same time the reliability of the brand name.
Nothing easier for us.
The company is proof of how an item of clothing can not only be revolutionary, but innovative, practical and distinctive.
From the second half of the 1800s, Mr. Charles Camplin supplied the Royal Navy with nautical uniforms. The story started from the British colonies, where Mr. Camplin sensed the need to produce not only uniforms, but garments suitable for nautical journeys distinguishable on the basis of the hierarchical rank that the subject in question covered.
Until then the NCOs used the same uniform as the normal skilled sailors, but they needed their own "uniform", practical, not like the long coats that senior officers wore. Charles had a fantastic idea: a jacket with the same important style as a coat but the practicality of movement of a jacket. Thus was created the Peacoat, or P. Coat (P for Petty in Petty Officer).
Mr. Camplin was also awarded the Naval General Service Medal, a medal with a blue ribbon with green stripes. This motif is still used to line the interior of the Peacoat.
A short cord was added to the Peacoat in detail, used as an extension to button the double-breasted jacket just below the collar. This happened when, due to the cold, the sailors had to put on many other clothes under the Peacoat, and in this way the neck could not close completely.
An iconic and unique garment of its kind: it was Robert Camplin's idea to propose the use of the Peacoat as part of the Petty Officer uniform to differentiate them from the sailors and from the Great Coat worn by senior officers. The idea of him turned into an outerwear that wanted to evoke the importance of a coat while embracing practicality in the movements.
Today as yesterday, Camplin proposes an original style that evokes the Heritage tradition with a nod to modernity and customization, to luxury and practicality: the brand was reborn 12 years ago in Italy, also developing beyond the European borders thanks to exclusivity of each product made.
We want to offer you the best and we think with Camplin that we are close to you.
