Always attentive to quality and attention to detail, we have always wondered where, sooner or later, our sick curiosity would lead us. At Blog don't Lie there is no room for regret and missed opportunities. Pieces to grasp quickly, stories not to be missed.
We have been following the commitment, work and all-Italian quality of ASTORFLEX for a long time. Astorflex was born in 1820 in the town of Castel d'Ario, Mantua, Italy, where the company still produces today under the leadership of the same family. The first factory produced handmade shoes and wooden soles.
After the First World War, at the beginning of industrialisation, the small company "Fratelli Travenzoli" began to produce various types of footwear using the "ideal" method (external stitching along the sole), the same method that is still used today in Astorflex in most shoes along with welt stitching.
The owner, Fabio Travenzoli, started working at the factory in 1984 and now owns and manages the brand as the sixth generation of the family. His son, Giulio Travenzoli, is also already working in the factory, thus bringing the Travenzoli family's factory legacy to 7 generations.
Passing down this art is important for the quality and knowledge of the product. Fabio's father, Alfredo, takes over at the helm of Astorflex together with his brother Bettino, after his father Daniele and grandfather Ferdinando. At Astorflex they are all part of the same family, fueling that legacy and dedication to footwear production that characterizes the brand. Since 1820, the knowledge, know-how and passion for shoemaking have been passed down from generation to generation and can be seen in every shoe that leaves the factory. The experience associated with modern, increasingly sustainable ways of thinking is fundamental. Astorflex shoes are created for life: make them yours.
Every pair of shoes is made in the same place from A to Z, and that's not for everyone. From materials to final product, each Astorflex shoe is made in factories located in Castel d'Ario, Mantua, Italy. All materials used are sustainably sourced as close to our factory as possible. A concept of km0 that is not easy to find and apply in our times.
The lining and insoles are made of vegetable tanned calfskin, obtained by immersing the leather in a mixture of water, oak bark powder and mimosa, without the use of dyes or colored finishes. This process makes the skin healthier, hypoallergenic and ensures greater sweat absorption for dry and odorless feet. The soles are made of natural rubber, consisting of coagulated latex from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). The various parts of the shoe are assembled using water-based adhesives.
In Astorflex the priority is, in addition to quality and comfort, given to sustainability. It is important to believe in the environment and take care of it in all aspects, especially in the selection of materials, production processes and packaging. Using only high-quality, sustainably sourced materials and manufacturing processes are designed to minimize waste and reduce your carbon footprint.
Astorflex shoes are not just about style and comfort; they represent dedication to the preservation of footwear craftsmanship and commitment to sustainability. When you choose Astorflex, you not only invest in a pair of stylish, high-quality shoes, but you also support our mission of creating a more sustainable future.
