Let’s take a step back, "Blue" indicates the color, "Jeans" the city of origin: both factors had in Genoa and more precisely in its port and in its commercial fervor, the initial stage of their long journey around the world.
The origin of the name "blue jeans" is traced back to the distortion that the English language has given over time to the name "blue de Genes" (blue of Genoa), a name which indicated a type of blue tarpaulin that was used on ships for sails and for covering cargo. The Oxford English Dictionary indicates the time of origin of this name as no less than 1567.
The term blue-jeans (or simply jeans) properly designates trousers with a 5-pocket cut, of which the rear ones are sewn onto the fabric of the body of the trousers. The fact that this cut has been made widely and has been successful with denim fabric has led to confusion of concepts: the term denim indicates fabric, and not necessarily blue; the term Jeans identifies the cut of the trousers.
The denim has a three-way twill weave, is made of cotton yarn, the weft is white or ecru and the warp is blue. Before the introduction of chemical dyes, the blue color was obtained from the isathis tinctoria plant (commonly known as "woad") or from the indigofera tinctoria plant, indigo.

After three years spent taking care of the branding and positioning in Italy and on foreign markets, the Tela Genova brand has started working on the product, expanding the ranges to propose a total look and now continues to achieve double-digit sales growth in every season.

Today Tela Genova is a brand of handcrafted jeans, which reproduces unique and revolutionary pieces for the selection of materials, for the manufacturing techniques faithful to the mastery of the time. The one proposed by the brand is a smart jeans that looks to the future, equipped with an identity card contained in the electronic label, which tells the story and origin of the model. The new collection is inspired by the fabulous American 1930s, those that marked the beginning of industrialization and transformed the canvas born in Genoa, back in 1515, into the beloved blue jeans, making it a timeless icon.
