Collection: Napapijri

Napapijri is an Italian clothing brand owned by the US company VF Corporation. In 1987 Giuliana Rosset, a Aosta Valley whose family owns the oldest distillery in the region, the Saint-Roch, took over Green Sport Monte Bianco, a small backpack company, from some Turin artisans. He moved the headquarters to Quart, initially starting to produce backpacks and travel bags with about fifteen employees and then expanding to the field of sportswear in which bright colors are abandoned. By consulting books and old maps of Northern Europe, the idea of the Napapijri brand was born, a name that derives from an improper diction of napapiiri, a Finnish term that means polar circle. The Norwegian flag is then stitched in plain sight on the vests, the logo is black and white, half positive and half negative, to give the idea of the north and south poles. From the books and drawings of the explorers also derives the jacket that initially leads to make the brand known: it's called Kagul, it slips from the head, it has the advantage of retaining heat. The brand will then be associated with the Skidoo jacket. Already in 1997 the first store was opened in Chamonix.
