Ellesse is an Italian clothing house founded in Perugia in 1959 by Leonardo Servadio, from whose initials the company name derives. He began his activity in the field of sportswear, mainly in the ski field.
In the mid-seventies, she made her entry into tennis through the sponsorship of the major tennis players in the world, including the world number one, the American Chris Evert, of many international tournaments, especially women, such as the Ellesse Women Circuit. at the end of the seventies by the Italian tennis lawyer Dino Papale, founder and general manager of WITA in collaboration with the International Tennis Federation and the European Tennis Federation, which was the first European circuit that included a series of European tournaments with prize money and a final Master for professional tennis players. In 1993 Ellesse was sold to the English holding Pentland Group.
